Suppose you have spent some time researching the best clipboard managers. In that case, you may have come across ClipClip and ClipAngel - popular go-to clipboard management tools for programmers, writers, teachers, and Windows power users. ClipClip and ClipAngel are free-to-use clipboard managers requiring very little computer knowledge to use efficiently. They are equipped with different features and are meant to serve different purposes.

The Windows clipboard was designed to simplify and somewhat expand the possibilities of the copy-paste function, but it’s simply not enough for power users. The main topic of today is understanding what ClipClip and ClipAngel are, what they can do for you, and which one is the better program.

ClipClip in a Nutshell

ClipClip is widely regarded as one of the most unique clipboard management tools. Even though it is a clipboard manager at its core, it is more of a suite of special tools and programs that work in synergy to save Windows users hours by providing solutions for their copy-paste, watermarking, content editing, translating, and reformatting needs.

It is often compared to modern clipboard management tools, even though its versatility is currently unparalleled. Clipboard management apps and software that feature optical character recognition, Markup to HTML, and file-sharing utility exist but are usually clunky or expensive.

As opposed to contemporary SaaS clipboard managers, ClipClip is a free-to-use program. Dissimilar to open-source clipboard management tools that are updated whenever users demand a new feature, ClipClip is a finished, well-rounded product with comprehensive features and capabilities.

Main Features

ClipClip is supplied with many features, which is among the main reasons why it is so attractive to power users.

This app brought content editing, file-sharing, clip management, screenshot capture, and numerous other functionalities to a single platform, enabling its users to start and complete projects and customize each detail from start to finish using a single app.

ClipClip Clipboard Manager

ClipClip was initially designed as a Windows clipboard manager app. Its main suite of programs revolves around streamlining copy-paste functions and enhancing their utility.

One of the main ClipClip features in this category is the ability to create and sort clips across multiple folders. This can be done by specifying the criteria for sorting or by simply dragging & dropping clips into desired folders.

The drag & drop interface was introduced to help beginners use ClipClip’s main functions effortlessly.

Numerous ClipClip functions can be instantly accessed by pressing the corresponding hotkeys. Additionally, users are free to customize and use their own hotkeys.

Another important clipboard manager-oriented feature is the ability to apply passwords to protect any folder. Users can set custom passwords on any private folder to ensure the clips are secure.

Image Editing Features

ClipClip can be used not only to capture clips; this app can edit captured image files by adjusting their color, flipping them, resizing them, rotating them, adding margins or watermarks, or extracting text from images via built-in optical character recognition technology.

This software can adjust selected clips’ brightness or hue levels, calculate MD5, sort & reverse text in images, apply proprietary or custom watermarks, and more.

Text Editing Features

One of ClipClip’s most versatile components is its ability to capture and alter text clips. A range of unique options is available from its control board, allowing users to translate, reformat, analyze, capitalize, replace, or even remove text from selected clips.

In terms of reformatting features, ClipClip can convert text files into plain, HTML, or rich text format. Text clips can be translated to any of the numerous supported language formats with a simple click.

ClipClip’s text analysis features encompass calculating various mathematical expressions, word count, and character count in text clips. Files and clips can be capitalized in multiple ways, including converting letters to lowercase/uppercase letters, but APA, Chicago Case, and AP capitalization options are also available.

Text replacement functions are comprised of tools that allow users to replace single or double quotes, hyphens, and underscores. White spaces and underscores can also be removed.

Versatile Screen Capture Tool

ClipClip is also part-screenshot capture software, enabling content writers, editors, and programmers to capture short clips or entire videos and any text. GIF recording capture is also available.

The inbuilt contour detection system automatically detects image shapes. Powered by a robust algorithm, this feature empowers screenshot capturing with dramatically increased accuracy.

The aforementioned optical character recognition (OCR) feature allows users to extract text from image clips. This feature can also be used to extract text from PDF files.

ClipClip File Sharing Tools

ClipClip is an excellent choice for Windows users working in teams. Its file-sharing capabilities are relatively basic, but they are effortless to use.

This program features Google Drive synchronization, which means all clips can be uploaded to the Drive and later downloaded and used on any other device. Additionally, ClipClip can be used to send clips to emails, Pastebin, or Twitter.

ClipClip Pros

  • Free to download and use
  • Can be used to extract text from images and PDF files
  • Features watermarking and reformatting functions

ClipAngel in a Nutshell

ClipAngel is a lightweight clipboard manager that values reliability and usability above versatility or flashy features. It is regarded as one of the simplest yet highly effective clipboard management tools that boast unlimited storage for clips.

It is free to use and download, and even though its versatility leaves plenty of room for improvement, ClipAngel rocks a range of convenient tools such as multi-language support, numerous clip marking functions, clip search filtering, and disk-encrypted clipboard history.

Main Features

ClipAngel is a simple clipboard management tool equipped with numerous easy-to-use features. Its primary purpose is to save time and storage space for its users, although it also packs several advanced options that may benefit Windows power users.

Supports Numerous Clip Formats

ClipAngel’s compatibility is one of its strongest points. This clipboard manager supports text, HTML, RTF, and image clips. Additionally, it shows URL sources of selected HTML clips, allowing you to locate the original photo of your image clips immediately.

Another convenient feature that belongs to this category is the ability to search clips by adjusting filters quickly. Currently, ClipAngel can sort clips by type, name, and date created (or edited).

Multi-Language User Interface

The UI of ClipAngel is simple and often regarded as one of its weaker features. Although it may look a bit dated, it supports English and Russian language; selecting another language immediately converts the entire program.

Selectable Privacy Options

Users can task ClipAngel to stop monitoring certain applications. The feature “Ignore Applications” prevents the app from creating, saving, or even registering clips from these apps.

Additionally, the clipboard can be cleared with the “Clear Clipboard” function. The main reason why this is considered a privacy-related feature is that ClipAngel offers unlimited clip storage.

Clip Altering Features

All clips taken with ClipAngel can be altered. The available actions depend on the type of clip. Clips can be saved in reformatted in one go, which means that a TXT clip can be saved as HTML, PNG, or RTF.

Clips can also be stitched together using a special “Join Clip” feature. When this option is selected, a single clip is formed using the compatible elements of the selected clip.

Selectable Clip Settings

One of the unique features of ClipAngel is the ability to create a protocol that the program needs to follow before creating any clips.

Image captures can be toggled on and off; deselecting this option will simply ignore PNG files; the program will attempt to save a clip in any other format instead.

The “Confirmation before deleting” option is a failsafe feature, which will prompt you to accept or decline to recycle a clip or empty the entire clipboard.

You can also choose the default font for all of your clips or stick to Segoe. Similar to Windows Clipboard, the option to delete all non-favorited clips can also be selected. Basic file encryption-related features are also available and can be toggled on and off.

Clip Size Limiter

ClipAngel was created during a time when hard drives were not as large as today. The Clip Size Limiter feature is ideal for Windows users working on older PCs and laptops with limited storage space, allowing them to set the maximum size on all clips.

ClipAngel Pros

  • Unlimited clip storage

  • The option to save and reformat clips with one keystroke

  • Supports clipboard comparison tools

  • Clips can be favorited

  • Clip Size limiter

  • HTML clips are shown in their native formatting

ClipAngel Cons

  • Outdated UI design

  • The features aren’t as logically grouped as ClipClip’s functions

  • Small icons

ClipClip vs ClipAngel

Versatility, ease of use, and reliability are the words that best describe both ClipClip and ClipAngel. However, these programs are more different than they are similar, and the following sections are meant to compare them across several fields of performance:

Round 1: Performance

ClipClip is a prime example of a high-performance productivity tool. This program was designed to save users hours by streamlining multiple (otherwise time-consuming) processes, such as copying and finding content on the clipboard, editing and reformatting content, sharing it with collaborators, and more.

It is also a robust file editor, allowing users to reshape, resize, blur, or modernize pictures easily. At the same time, its text-editing capabilities far exceed those of most contemporary text editing apps.

ClipAngel, on the other hand, is a dedicated clipboard manager equipped with a handful of features typically supplied to other productivity tool types. It can perform basic file reformatting tasks, set a limit on captured clips, exempt the app from monitoring certain apps, and such.

It does not have the capability to extract text from photos, apply borders or watermarks to selected content, nor can it send clips to email or social media networks, which is something ClipClip can do.

Round 2: Design

ClipClip’s user interface looks polished and modern, but more importantly, it is intuitive and easy to navigate. Users who have downloaded the app for the first time are typically capable of grasping its basic features within the first couple of minutes of use, while discovering all of its functions rarely requires more than a week.

ClipAngel’s design is straightforward and, according to most users, too basic and even old-fashioned for today’s standards. The UI of ClipAngel is somewhat less navigable than ClipClip’s interface, as the features aren’t as logically grouped.

Round 3: Clipboard Management

The purpose of both ClipClip and ClipAngel is to offer a more streamlined alternative to the Windows Clipboard.

ClipAngel does this by allowing users to store an unlimited number of clips, save and reformat clips with a click, translate text, and encrypt the entire database when needed.

ClipClip, on the other hand, features a much broader list of clipboard management functions, including text reformatting, capitalizing, replacing, removing, and analyzing; image color adjustments, flipping, resizing and rotating.

Watermarking, OCR, and Markdown to HTML functions are just some of the innovative functions that most clipboard managers do not possess, including ClipAngel.

Round 4: Support

ClipClip and ClipAngel are both free-to-use clipboard management tools. Both are also finished products that are being regularly updated and equipped with new features and upgrades.

This round is a draw, as both programs are virtually bug-free. The official websites of both ClipClip and ClipAngel feature detailed explanations regarding how to fix common issues, while the creators of both apps offer excellent support for all users.

Final Verdict

ClipAngel is a great clipboard manager, but ClipClip is a far superior productivity tool. If you are searching for a program that could help you with multiple everyday tasks, ClipClip may be the right choice, whether you are a school teacher, a veteran programmer, or an experienced content writer.

ClipClip has won virtually all of the four rounds, aside from the final one being a draw. ClipAngel is a formidable program, but ClipClip’s superior features and utility ultimately won today’s match.
